THE HOUSE OF DESIRE
by ATHLANTI

This artwork pays homage to Gustav Klimt’s masterpiece, The Kiss.

At its center stands the iconic embracing couple created by Klimt, reimagined within a completely different context: painted onto a contemporary luxury leather handbag, one of the most recognizable symbols of modern desire and status.

The work creates a dialogue between different eras, bridging the late 19th century and the 21st century, classical art and contemporary luxury. It explores how historical symbols do not remain confined to the past, but continue to evolve, adapt, and acquire new meaning within today's culture.

What was once considered revolutionary art has become a timeless cultural treasure, while the symbols that define prestige and aspiration today may one day become part of history themselves.

Through this encounter, the artwork blurs the boundaries between past and present, suggesting that beauty, love, and desire remain constant throughout time only the objects through which we tell these stories continue to change.
